Grand Canyon West at a glance

Grand Canyon West is the western part of the canyon, on the Hualapai Reservation in Arizona. The attraction is a tourism business of the Hualapai on their own land, so it is not part of Grand Canyon National Park and national park passes are not accepted. You buy tickets for Grand Canyon West itself.

The visit centers on three areas: Eagle Point, where the glass Skywalk is, Guano Point, and Hualapai Point. This guide covers the Skywalk, tickets and packages, the viewpoints, helicopter flights, rafting, tours from Las Vegas, the comparison with the South Rim, cabins, Route 66 and the road in. Prices are in US dollars for 2026. They depend on the date, and taxes and fees can be added at checkout.

Our picks: Grand Canyon West tours

For most people the coach day with park entry and a Hoover Dam photo stop is the simple way from Las Vegas; add the Skywalk as an option. The afternoon-entry ticket suits you if you get there yourself and arrive late. Take the helicopter landing if you want to stand on the canyon floor, the express flight if you want the Skywalk included, and the plane tour if you only want to look from the air.

Hand-picked tours, booked through GetYourGuide. Prices are indicative starting prices in US dollars (as of October 2026). Tap a tour for live availability and the current price in your currency.

A few things to know before you go

General Admission at $67 covers the trails, cultural exhibits and song and dance, but not the Skywalk. The All-Access Pass at $99 includes it.

Rafting starts in Peach Springs

River trips meet at Peach Springs on Route 66, about 2 hours from the Skywalk. They are not an add-on you start from the viewpoints.

Rafting β†’

The cabins are at Hualapai Point

This is the current name of the area with the cabins, zipline and arcade. Cabins sleep up to 6 and are non-smoking.

Cabins β†’

Road work around Kingman

Work on the I-40 and US-93 interchange continues, with lane restrictions and an expected finish in 2027. Add time if your route runs through Kingman.

Route 66 and Kingman β†’

Two Skywalk height figures

The distance to the canyon floor is given as 4,000 ft, and the drop under the glass as 720 ft. They measure different things, so neither is a free-fall height.

Beyond the West Rim

Other stops that combine well with this trip.

Many visitors weigh this side against the national park. The South Rim has its own guide, and our West Rim and South Rim comparison sets the two side by side. The drive from Las Vegas can pass the Hoover Dam, covered by the Hoover Dam guide. For a longer loop through the state, see the Arizona road trip page.
